I, Asaph, have something important to share with you. (Psalm 78:1)

I will tell you a story using images. (Psalm 78:2)

Which has been passed down from generation to generation. (Psalm 78:3)

To God’s glory and honor, we wish to share this wonderful story. (Psalm 78:4)

For He set up a new standard of moral behavior among men. (Psalm 78:5)

And that we should teach our children these precepts. (Psalm 78:6)

To show them that God is good, and not to forget the many blessings He bestows upon us. (Psalm 78:7)

That they will not seek their own way, and their own good. (Psalm 78:8)

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; (Luke 18:1)

But live life according to these precepts, and not to turn away from them. (Psalm 78:9)

Do not look at those who refuse to follow God’s Word. (Psalm 78:10)

And ignore His goodness and the care and love he provides. (Psalm 78:11)

He takes care of His children, even in the midst of many evils and trials. (Psalm 78:12)

He will deliver them through them all. His love is a standard and high tower of protection. (Psalm 78:13)

His Divine presence gives light and understanding, in good times and in bad. (Psalm 78:14)

His Word brings forth love and faith, and is available to all. (Psalm 78:15)

It is a source of living water. It brings forth faith and contentment, peace and security. (Psalm 78:16)

Yet, for those who ignore His Word and its precepts, they are lost and without hope. (Psalm 78:17)

And they err further by seeking their own needs and ignoring God and others. (Psalm 78:18)

They even sneer at the concept of a living God. They ask, can this invisible God put food on my table? (Psalm 78:19)

I do not understand all this religious nonsense. Can He provide practical things that I need and desire? (Psalm 78:20)

God is aware of their thoughts. He sees into their heart, and allows them to continue on their crooked path. (Psalm 78:21)

And the man said to me, Son of man, behold with your eyes and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I shall show you. For you are brought here so that I might show them to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel. (Ezekiel 40:4)

God is saddened by their hardened hearts. He has tried to reach out to them in His love toward the whole human race. (Psalm 78:22)

Many times, and through many opportunities, He has called them to Himself. (Psalm 78:23)

He has sent angels and people to show and tell them practical truths and wisdom of His character and His love for them. (Psalm 78:24)

He sent a taste of heaven, and showed them a better way. (Psalm 78:25)

Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: (Psalm 95:8)

But they refused to listen, and they began to seal off heaven. (Psalm 78:26)

They became as beasts. Their insanity increased. They were headed for disaster. (Psalm 78:27)

Their self deceptions soon enveloped their entire families and friends. (Psalm 78:28)

They continued in their quest for self-fulfillment. God did not interfere. (Psalm 78:29)

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. (Proverbs 1:31)

They were soon consumed with their greed for more, and were not filled. (Psalm 78:30)

Hell descended down upon them, and sealed their fate. (Psalm 78:31)

Now they hated God. They have shunned His marvelous grace. (Psalm 78:32)

They worshiped vain idols, and wasted their years on earth. (Psalm 78:33)

God then separated Himself from them. At times, they remembered their creator. (Psalm 78:34)

And they considered the faith they had heard in days past. (Psalm 78:35)

But they thought of themselves as good people. They assured themselves that they were worthy. (Psalm 78:36)

But their heart was not pure. And in reality, they had never made a commitment to the Lord. (Psalm 78:37)

But God’s love would not let Him forget them. Time and time again He tenderly called them. (Psalm 78:38)

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. (Psalm 145:8)

He did not take to heart the rejection that He suffered. (Psalm 78:39)

However, they continued to decline his overtures. (Psalm 78:40)

They simply turned their backs and walked away. (Psalm 78:41)

It did not even enter their minds to consider all the blessings God had given them. (Psalm 78:42)

Or all the times He had called them away from this world. (Psalm 78:43)

They had ignored His mercy. Of His goodness they could not comprehend. (Psalm 78:44)

Their malice and venom toward God was self-evident. (Psalm 78:45)

Their appetite was only to the flesh, and what it could provide. (Psalm 78:46)

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. (Romans 1:24)

All their good and moral principles were destroyed. Anything to do with God’s kingdom had vanished. (Psalm 78:47)

Any chance for redemption were gone. Their ears and hearts would not listen. (Psalm 78:48)

For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. (Psalms 50:10)

Their evil desires drew themselves closer to the hells. (Psalm 78:49)

They have fallen so far from the truth, they somehow considered themselves to be in the truth. (Psalm 78:50)

They have no connection to heaven or to God’s people on earth. (Psalm 78:51)

The people of faith can lean on and rely on God. (Psalm 78:52)

He tenderly leads them, and they find safety. But those who reject God have no anchor. (Psalm 78:53)

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (John 10:27)

He brings His people to His home. Heaven is prepared for them. (Psalm 78:54)

They are brought into heaven with blessings and honor. God shares everything He has with them. (Psalm 78:55)

Let both grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary. (Matthew 13:30)

But those who have rejected God will lose everything. (Psalm 78:56)

Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

For they hate God and all his moral precepts. (Psalm 78:57)

It saddened God to see such a waste of desolation. (Psalm 78:58)

Oh, how He longed and wished things could be different. (Psalm 78:59)

So He took on the form of a man. He left His home in tranquility and dwelt among men in the earth because of His love for them. (Psalm 78:60)

And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth. (John 1:14)

He gave up His sovereignty so that He might save. His glory He did hide. (Psalm 78:61)

He allowed Himself to enter into temptation. He became as just another man. (Psalm 78:62)

His passion and desire was to redeem and save men. It was His only purpose. (Psalm 78:63)

He desired that men should come to Him. He wanted to make a way, for those who did not have a way. (Psalm 78:64)

He then created a way, and it became so. (Psalm 78:65)

All the evils belonging to the hells that were against His love and purpose, He subdued and put back into order. (Psalm 78:66)

Therefore He says, “When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.” (Ephesians 4:8)

He refused to come as the sovereign Lord of the universe, but instead took the form of a man. (Psalm 78:67)

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be on His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

He chose to build a church of people to share his Love. This church would include anyone, especially the unworthy. (Psalm 78:68)

But speaking boldly, Paul and Barnabas said, It was necessary for the Word of God to be spoken to you first. But since indeed you put it far from you and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the nations. (Acts 13:46)

He built this church to proclaim the beautiful truths of heaven and to share it’s glory. (Psalm 78:69)

And He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father, who is in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, as in Heaven, so also on the earth. (Luke 11:2)

He took the form of a natural man with earthly wisdom, and filled Him with all truth from heavenly wisdom. (Psalm 78:70)

The great Lord of heaven walked among men in holiness, innocence and truth. (Psalm 78:71)

And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth. (John 1:14)

He served the people as a servant serves his master. He shared His life with all His ability and power. (Psalm 78:72)
