The Closure of The Four Church Ages That Have Existed on The Earth

Abstract: By taking from the text of the Bible Commentary “Secrets of Heaven” by Emanuel Swedenborg, we will post the four church ages that have existed in the history of the world, including the present one.

These churches are like the life of a vegetable plant. It starts from a seed or propagation, which is the divine purpose and plan of the Creator God. It took billions of years just for rich soil to be formed on this planet to grow the plant. Our God dwells in eternity and in infinity. We are a finite and limited creation.

These churches, like the vegetable plant, start with just a seed, which is the thought that would spring forth from the Creator’s plan and purpose. They begin in a tender root and shoot. They especially grow in the night. While involved in the circle of life on the earth and the rotation of the sun, the plant or church begins to bear fruit in a cornucopia of forms, each after its own form. But it reaches a point at which it begins to bear fruit or is choked out by weeds or lack of moisture.

The farmer may have a successful harvest and bring in much, or weeds and lack of moisture may bring in failure and only a little can be brought in. The farmer has little choice but to work the land and try again. Such is the existence of the four successive churches that have existed on this planet. This is the text taken from “Secrets of Heaven” section no. 4057, explaining these four church ages from the evidence extracted from the Holy Bible.

“1) The close of the first Church has been described by the Flood; the close of 2) the second Church by the uprooting of the nations in the land of Canaan, and also by the many uprootings and exterminations referred to in the Prophets. 3) The close of the third is not described in the Word, but is foretold; it was the destruction of Jerusalem and the scattering throughout the whole world of the Jewish nation, with whom the Church existed. 4) The fourth close of an age is that of the present-day Christian Church, which is foretold by the Lord in the Gospels and also in John, in the Book of Revelation, and which is now at hand”.

If this proposition “which now is at hand” is true, we can expect the Second Advent or Coming is what is to be at hand. Followed closely by the forming of a fifth church age in this world. And this is the keen interest this blog was formed to express in anticipation of the Lord of heaven and earth returning to form a fifth church age on earth that will never be uprooted but will exist ad infinitum. Which means “to infinity,” “forever,” or “without limit”. It describes a process, action, or pattern that goes on and on without stopping. And this is the crown Jewel of all churches created for the Lord Jesus!

“I saw a new heaven and a new earth, because the former heaven and the former earth had passed away. And I, John, saw the Holy City New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband,”(Revelation 21:1-2)
